Happy Thursday! It’s almost the weekend, so I’m happy :). As I’ve been doing lately, I styled this look as some pre-fall inspo. This skirt has been one of my favorites since purchasing it, and I’ve featured it several times on the blog. What I love about this outfit is that it truly is transitional – the skirt of course lends itself to warmer temps, but the gray plaid has a more fall vibe. I also added one of my favorite silk blouses to this look for a few reasons. One, I think silk is a great fabric for fall, as it’s elegant but not as heavy as a sweater/knit material, but also a fabric that can be a little too hot in the summer. Two, I wanted to mix up a pattern here in the blouse – I styled a look in March that mixed up patterns as well, but because I chose a patterned blazer over a patterned shirt, it felt a little more safe to me. This arrow-printed blouse I got a season or two ago was the perfect blouse to add a different pattern in a subtle way.
What I loved about this look as well as is how casual it feels, while still using more elevated pieces. I find that whenever I wear silk, my outfit inherently looks a little more formal. The cuffed sleeves definitely make this blouse and look more casual, which I had never done before with a silk blouse (I know, sounds crazy). Of course, the addition of my Kenneth Cole sneakers doesn’t hurt with dressing it down!
